This is release 001 from newly formed British record label "Rock-a-holics" with headquarters in Greece. This is actually a reissue of the debut of American band "Archrival" originally released in 1991."Archrival" is the band of lead guitarist Michael Harris probably best known as a member of "Chastain" as well as from his numerous solo albums. Now this being released by a Greek label you can imagine it receiving substantial advertising/support through the local magazines, CD stores, rock clubs etc. Reviews have gone as far as comparing the band to "Dokken", "Stryper" and "Impellitteri". And by this claim I felt the urge to check this reissue. "In the face of danger" is as diverse a hard rock album as one can find, spanning from melodic rock to bluesy rock to melodic hard rock/metal. It has to be credited that Michael Harris lead and rhythm work shines through each and every track handing out grooving riffs, twin melodic line and copious amounts of shredding! But honestly he is clearly nowhere near "Impellitteri" (at least not on this release). Personally I was more surprised by the talents of lead vocalist Steve Snyder, a very expressive singer with a beautiful voice (might remind you quite a bit of Mark Slaughter).Favorite tracks include "Time won't wait", "Fortune Hunter", "Mr. Attitude", "Shotgun at midnight", "Siren's Song" and "Can you tell me why".As an album it is pretty good, but as a re-release "In the face of danger" is really something else. For starters the re mastering is impeccable; guitars and bass are perfectly restored, the vocals shine crystal clear through the mix but the real job is done on the drums which sound as if they were professionally recorded in 2009. I would have never guessed that this album dates back in 1991.Also the European package includes a bonus DVD with a 10 track live set professionally shot, plus two promo videos ( I am not sure however if this imported edition includes the DVD as Amazon mentions only ONE Disc within the package.)I could not possibly say that this release let me down in any way, it is Class A hard rock, and if it hadn't been promoted as much, it would have stored a real surprise for the audience."Rock Hard" Greek magazine (issue 47) marks this album with 8/10 commenting: "It's well worth your attention both as an album and as a package""Metal Hammer" Greek magazine (issue 299) marks this album with 7/10 commenting: "Balanced somewhere between melodic metal and melodic hard rock this is a blistering American Debut."
