There are some real positives with this serum. Thermus thermophilus ferment is thought to be great for skin. It's supposed to be a powerful antioxidant that can help prevent skin damage and improve skin overall. This serum also has glycerin which is a humectant, meaning it will help hydrate skin, and it's especially nice when paired with some form of hyaluronic acid, which this product also has. This also has 2 peptides to help prevent skin damage and aid in repair, although the ones in this product are a bit less studied than some. I also love that this has no added fragrance ingredients, a neutral scent that fades quickly, and absorbs quickly. It left my skin feeling smooth.Despite those positives, I would probably pick another product with less controversial ingredients.•One of the peptides has a "forever" chemical component. It's not known for harming humans like some other forever chemicals, but environmentally persistent chemicals are something that some might want to avoid. I'd also prefer to see some of the more well-studied peptides.•Some of the botanicals in this are known to be very good in skincare products, but in this product, they are all used at a concentration of 1% or less. They are listed *after* phenoxyethanol, a preservative that is typically used at 1% concentration (note that ingredients at 1% or less can be in any order), so while some are beneficial in low amounts, some of these are used more generously in other products. Note that the peptides and hyaluronic acid can be effective at less than 1%.•This also has some ingredients that could be possible irritants. Chlorphenesin gets a EWG rating of 4 and FD&C Yellow No.5 gets a rating of 4-5 because both have some allergenic/irritant potential. FD&C Blue No. 1 gets a rating of 3-8 on EWG depending on how it's used. It has allergenic potential, plus in vitro (which sometimes has relevance for the body but not always), it's a mitochondrial toxin, which doesn't sound good, but keep it mind that it's allowed in food and drugs, although that's also because it's grandfathered in along with the yellow. Why put in color at all?
