I glanced at the instructions. test an inconspicuous area. 5-15 minutes. Clean it first. Water clean-up. Great.Prior owners of my place put in large format tile thru 70% of my house, outside in the front entry way, and outside on the back patio - which is 3 feet from the pool. I've had multiple people slip. We use a rug as a stop gap, but it gets dirty, is a hassle etc. I know I should take out the tile, but I dont want that project yet. Then I heard about solutions to "roughen" up the tile surface. I did a bit of googling and tried this product. To confirm, this is an etching product. It is not a spray on traction adder. So, for my inconspicuous test area I chose a few tiles at the pool entryway. My thought was to test at 15 mins, and determine how much effort I was going to put into this project. Frankly I didnt expect much. I swept off the area. I let the product dry in spots. Then I hosed it down.I then tried it out. Hmm, with bare feet it feels like walking on roughened concrete. If I tried (running and sliding) I could probably slip. With shoes on, it felt like I was walking on sandpaper. AMAZING difference. Next I etched the walkway (say 6 feet wide and 10 feet long) between the pool gate and the patio door. My wife expected less than I. And she was surprised. The area rug is gone. I'll be etching the front walkway and the other 300 sqft of patio tomorrow night. Why 4 stars not 5? I'm pretty sure we're paying for a generic acid (say Miuratic). But on the other hand, it really was an astonishing improvement in traction. I want to do this on the tile in my shower and just outside my shower.I did a test with a spare tile, and following the 15 minute guideline provided by the manufacturer did nothing, and in fact may have made the tile slicker. After much trial and error what worked for me was wetting the tiles the first time as directed, but then waiting 30 minutes (instead of 15), and wetting the tiles again (no rinsing first), then waiting 30 minutes and wetting again, then waiting 30 minutes and wetting again, for a total of 2 hours of time with the tile spent constantly wet with the solution, with no rinsing in between. In between each spray coat I did use a deck brush (search Amazon for 'deck brush' to get the idea, it's just a stiff-bristled floor brush) to spread the solution out and make sure it was even. I saw that trick on one of the manufacturer's commercial installation videos.Even after the 2 hours it's difficult to see a visual change in the tiles, but from a friction perspective things are much improved. For example, the Wetjet used to glide over the floor like it was greased, but after the treatment it now takes some muscle to get it to move.Bottom line is that I highly recommend this stuff, but your mileage may vary on the soak/etch times needed for your particular tiles. I *highly* recommend doing a lot of testing beforehand with spare tiles so that you can judge the effects yourself.Update after two years: could not be happier with our floor, still. We were worried that the slightly roughened surface would be more likely to hold onto dirt, but that hasn't been the case. The floor is still shiny and looks great, but slipperyness remains greatly reduced.Yes please. And Thank You! Years ago when my parents were in their younger years, my dad decided to put tile on the concrete slab out back where we had our outdoor table and garden. It looked so pretty. The problem was... he used ceramic tiles intended for indoor use. Though pretty, they were very slippery -- especially when they got wet. Last weekend, my dad (who is now 74 years old) went out back to grill some burgers -- it had been raining so they were especially slippery. Yep, you guessed it, he slipped and sprained his ankle. I immediately began looking for solutions to the problem. I bought an outdoor rug to put in front of the grill -- but that only solved a 4x5 section of the problem. Then I found this product. Hopeful, I bought it.If you want the shorter version: BUY IT.It really was the perfect solution. It was so easy to apply and the directions that came with it were simply, clear, and straight forward.1. We poured some in a bucket.2. Used a cotton string mop and simply mopped it over the tile like we were mopping a floor.3.Then we let it sit as directed (we went the full 20 minutes).4. As it was sitting, we mixed a large 5 gallon bucket with water and 10 tablespoons of baking soda to neutralize the acid (this is in the directions)5. Then we mopped that over the surface of the floor.6. Then we hosed the whole floor down with a hose. The appearance for my dad's tile was no different, but the new grip and anti-slip factor was terrific. I feel much better knowing he will not slip when he goes out there on dewy mornings to water plants or rainy evenings to grills burgers. Thanks Stone Grip -- just wish I knew about this product before my dad fell last weekend. Most amazing product! We have had a slippery tiled patio for over 10 years. We would lay out rugs, towels, etc. and tell everyone to be careful walking (we have a pool). It was to the point we were going to remove the tile and redo the patio. It had gotten too dangerous. While trying to find an alternative (from messiness and expense) I came across this product. I decided to buy it and give one more try to saving the patio. My husband removed the things from our patio, put this on, waited the 15-30 min (I forget) and sprayed it off. IMMEDIATELY EFFECTIVE!!! It was unbelievable. The grip that the tile had wet, dry, with shoes, without shoes - was amazing. Being the perfectionist he is, my husband asked that I buy another gallon to do the patio a second time. So I did. And he did it again. (I think 1 time was fine actually). That was last summer. It is now a year and the tile is as non-slippery now as it was last summer. I think this is probably the best thing I've ever ordered from Amazon. $150 (for 2 gallons) saved my patio - and made my outdoor area safe again. I highly recommend for slippery glazed tile. This seems to have done the trick on my slippery granite flags. They have that bit more traction in the wet now, which makes the garden more pleasant to use on wet days. I let the liquid sit on the tiles for around half an hour, and re-wet them half way through.Exercise great caution and follow the safety instructions closely.Very disappointed, suppose to be clear but the floor became whiteIt didn't work for me £100 down the draindon't waste your moneyGeflieste Treppe zur Haustür.
