Trying to find some place local who sells wheels for a 1998 Ford F250LD is almost near impossible. From my understanding, the Ford F250 Light Duty's, and Ford F150's with the Heavy duty payload packages are only vehicles on the planet that use a 7 lug bolt pattern! Why Ford decided to do this is beyond me, but I have been searching the internet high and low for months trying to find some decent information regarding which wheels will work, what size to go with, and what wheels "should" look good on my truck. Finally after lots research and lots of procrastination, I decided on the Ion 179's in Matt Black, and I am not disappointed. The price was great, the wheels arrived within 3 days (thanks to Amazon Prime), and they look great! I have them wrapped with BFG KO2 All- Terrain T/A LT285/70R17's, and I love them! The one and only challenge with using these wheels, is that you CAN NOT, re-use the factory lug nuts with them. The center of the wheel is much thicker than the factory steel wheels, and the wheel studs are not long enough to allow the lug nut to spin onto more than only a few threads. Although I was able to test the wheel fitment by using my factory lug nuts, and even got them to tighten down to the factory specs of 100ftlbs of torque, I certainly did not feel comfortable with them, and swapped them out with some spline drive ones that I found here on Amazon. Oh, and BTW! It is very unlikely that your local auto parts store will carry the lug nuts that you need to use these wheels on your truck, and that is because, like the wheel lug pattern, the wheel stud size is also unusual and very uncommon. The wheel studs are 12mm x 1.75", and need to be tapered, unlike the factory flat lug nuts. I was able to find some on amazon, but they are very hard to find anywhere else. I wish that Ion would offer them when you purchase the wheels. The lug nuts that I used are the W55175ST 12mm x 1.75" Spline Closed End Truck Install Kit. They were about $31.00 a set, and you need 2 set's .I’ve had these wheels on my Tacoma TRD Sport for a couple of weeks now. I couldn’t be more pleased. The guys at the wheel shop that mounted them told me they totally changed the look of my truck and I agree. Mine are 17x8 with a 265/70r17 tire and I have zero issues at factory ride height. They are a good looking wheel, one of mine was scuffed up didn’t notice till I got them mounted. They pointed it out before they proceededGood lookingGreat dealHaving an F150 with 7 lugs my choices were limited on wheels. These worked great. Really changed the look of the truck.LOVE these wheels. Pretty much had no selection to choose from when it comes to these crazy 7 lug wheel patterns so finding these was great. Looking sharp on my 2005 F150 Heavy Duty. Would buy again. Mounted some New 285/70/17 Mud Tires on these bad boys. Turns a boring work truck into a cool fun truck. ATTENTION: The picture shows all black but mine are black with machined middle sections. These rims are great. Well made. The only issue is the cheap garbage they give you for the hub is a laugh. An empty soda can would be just as good. To top it off, they want to charge you over $30 for a new one. And you will need a new one. I had to change my brakes, shortly after getting these rims, and already broke one of the hubs. Luckily, I was able to epoxy it back together. Absolute garbage hubs.
