The Velcro part came apart from brace. I was surprised due to the cost of this brace, thought it would hold better that it did. I use this one as my daytime brace so I am trying to fix it!I'm 65 and retired. I injured my left knee doing the final yard clean up in late fall. I don't know what happened, but the following day I noticed my knee was hyper-extending with significant pain. I went to my orthopedic surgeon for X-rays and evaluation. He didn't notice anything unusual, but at my request gave me a Rx for a knee brace and several pages containing knee exercises. So far, the knee exercises aren't of much help, but I was eventually able to get in to an orthotist to get measured for a custom knee brace. Unfortunately, the initial brace that arrived was the wrong one, it didn't address hyper-extension, so another, correct one was ordered. We were leaving for a vacation that would require a moderate amount of walking. I waited as long as I could for the re-ordered custom brace to arrive, so I proceeded to find something on Amazon. The BraceAbility brace was rated high and it looked to be well designed and engineered. I paid Amazon extra to get it shipped early but it looked like it still wasn't going to make it in time. I contacted the manufacturer to have one next-day, air shipped. I got it in time, but after 4 hours of wearing around the house, I realized that (even with the highest setting for hyper-extension protection) my knee was still hyper-extending. The assembly has metal hinges secured to neoprene with leather (suede) which you would expect to be very secure, but they were still no match for the 'snap-back' action of my knee. The hinges just stretched the neoprene, still allowing for hyper-extension. My guess is that with continued use, in time, the neoprene would tear. Although the brace did provide some initial minimal support (basically, the first few steps after sitting), I realized that it wasn't worth taking and left it at home. Now that I've returned from vacation, I see that the Amazon shipment arrived (probably hours after our morning flight), so I have two very expensive (albeit, due to shipping) ineffective braces to return. But more disheartening than the cost, my vacation was compromised.Very comfortable, easy to apply, well made.Tore my ACL 2 weeks ago, Ortho wanted a thousand dollars for similar brace. Bought this one & it is amazing, has made a world of difference. Being able to set & lock flexion & extension has been a lifesaver as one of my major issues has been severe muscle spasms upon the smallest flexion of joint. I'm a nurse & on my feet a LOT, that simply would not be possible without this brace.I purchased this brace to help my wife get around the house easier. She is having problems with her right knee and needed a good brace to help support her leg overall. This brace did the trick. The brace is excellent quality and the company who supplied it in my opinion is first class. My wife is very pleased with her new brace.I love this Knee Brace! I have a torn meniscus, and this brace has reduced the pain so much that I almost don't take anything for the pain!!!!! It is so comfortable that I even sleep in it. I took my measurements where the site said to measure, and after the fiasco with drug store braces, I just couldn't believe that I needed at 2XL, so I ordered the 3XL, which was too big. So, I exchanged it for the 2XL, which fits perfectly. Plus, the straps that go around the top and bottom help to customize the fit. The only draw back is that I need help fastening it in the back. However, the quality of this brace is 100 times better than anything in the drug stores. The device was nice but would not stop my hypertensionI have large legs and the brace I bought fits great. I love the multiple adjustments and the quality is amazing. Can't get along without this brace! I was apprehensive spending so much for this, but it is worth every cent! My doctor wishes I have surgery to remove the torn meniscus, however I'm not ready to undergo surgery. I felt if I could brace the knee, I could get along for a while longer. I still have pain, but not nearly as much, and the support I get from this brace allows me greater mobility for longer periods of time.I do believe it runs a tad big. I could have gone down a size and been fine.
