I have own the 2nd edition of the Biological Wastewater Treatment since 2004 and had read it page by page for multiple times. This is my favorite among all the environmental engineering books I have. And I am not saying it is one of my favorites...The authors aligned the understandings, designs, and analyses of biological treatment processes with mathematical models. For those who had only come across something like M&E, this book gets your understanding of biological treatment processes fundamentals to the level of 3000ft deeper.Assumptions are clearly stated for the models, with their limitations explained. Examples used in the book were systematically connected (and corss-referenced) so that the readers can use the same design basis for different processes to meet various requirements.Very few typos in the 2nd edition that I owned. The authors and editors put a great deal of effort into their work. The contents were arranged in a way that helps building the knowledge framework from ground up. The authors did not just say "so and so did this and found that" when they referred to other's work. Their own understanding and interpretations were also embedded in the context. No explanations were rushed. The text was a great mix of academia and real world process engineering.
