The fill is perfect warmth for about 40 degrees to 10 degrees and that's with just a thermal shirt underneath. Other features that make this coat great are: the attached hood and zip to chin with zipper that guards it from touching your face (good feature for us guys with beards!) and elastic around the hoodie/arm bands.The price is great and unless you are climbing Mt Everest there is no reason for the heavier fill. I can wear this in the car unzipped without sweating. It is also more slimming as NF has removed the majority of the bulk. The pockets are great,especially the zip chest pocket. Take my advice,this is a quality jacket. I highly recommend buying it.
